Bill Varner

About the Artist . . .

Bill Varner found his creative spirit in the steps of a journey he never intended to embark upon. As his technical abilities
grew and deepened through the years, they happened to coincide with his curiosity as he experimented with unusual
visual effects and negative space.

The results you see today are inspired by the natural beauty of our mountain environment and its wild inhabitants.
Metallics meet fluidity, one natural element embellishes another.

Alchemy:
: a science that was used in the Middle Ages with the goal of changing ordinary metals into gold
: a power or process that changes or transforms something in a mysterious or impressive way

Either definition is descriptive of Bill Varner's images, where your imagination is invited to fill in the details.

To get to the point where I started to create art was a 20-year progression. Starting when I was VP of Sales for a sporting apparel business. I learned the basics of the programs that were needed to use for logos & designs that we placed on the garments. Then my wife Kelli & I started Showing our Portuguese Water Dog, Spalding. I started taking many photos & learned to make designs from those images that we laser onto clothing. In September of 2014 everything clicked. Kelli wanted me to go with her to the Evergreen Open Doors Studio’s. Where I saw that the Artists were printing photographs on Canvas & Aluminum. That’s when I realized; I could take what I was already doing with my images and add to them the background elements. That night I produced my first art images.
